The Lake City Way Fire – What Happened & What’s Next

Overview
On February 1st, 2023 The Dog Resort suffered a fire that led to the emergency evacuation of all dogs and employees in the building. Because of our amazing staff, community, and emergency response teams all of the dogs were evacuated and brought home safely. Our safety protocols ensured that every dog and person was brought to safety, but this event was still extremely devastating.
Beginning April 1st, 2023 our original Lake City Way location is undergoing construction and we have secured a new North Seattle building only two miles south of our original building.
Updates as of April 2023
Due to recent confusion we wanted to clarify our plans for our operation moving forward in North Seattle. Our shuttle service is no longer running, the building at 13045 Lake City Way NE, Seattle WA 98125 has officially begun construction and will not be in use for the foreseeable future. While operations are on hold at 13045 Lake City Way, we have secured a new building only a few miles south of the previous location. Our temporary location will be at 9824 Lake City Way NE, Seattle WA 98115. We are planning on opening this location in the coming months, and we will continue to update you all as we get more information on the opening dates.
We also wanted to touch on our longer than usual waitlist. Because we only have one location running at the moment, our boarding services are booking out much faster than usual. Our waitlists are running on a first come first serve basis, and we are doing our best to accommodate your stays. Thank you all for your continued support and understanding.
Your Reservations
All reservations made at our Lake City Way location are now valid at our SODO location. We have been able to keep our staff fully employed, and are lucky to have a very large South facility. All dogs will now need to be dropped off at SODO for their boarding and daycare fun.

Moving Forward
We are excited to share a few updates with you all regarding our Lake City location and plans moving forward. We are thrilled to announce that we have secured a new location off of NE 98th Street and Lake City Way (less than two miles South of our original building). Plans to renovate the new location are now happening in rapid phases and we will have the play yard up and running for daycare in the next 3 weeks. This location will be our home away from home as renovations on our original Lake City building are now occurring. Detailed timelines for both renovations will be provided as soon as they are available. We cannot thank you all enough for all of the support and cooperation we have received during this transition.
